Happy Valentines Day!

I thought I would post this as it's so cute! It's from an advertisement but I don't care

Hubby did try and book us in for dinner tonight but the restaurant of choice was booked out. To be honest I prefer their alacarte menu than their set one, which is what they had tonight for Valentines Day. As it turns out, I'm glad we didn't end up going tonight, the weather has been freezing, and there were too many things to do tonight anyway. We did get each other beautiful cards which was nice though!

Well we now have a new natural internal water feature in our lounge room, complete with buckets and towels and a lovely drip.drip.drip. sound! When I get the chance I will put a picture up. We've had to reconfigure the lounge area because the water was dripping on the couch and ruining it, not to mention it would be a bit awkward trying to watch telly with water dripping on your head! It's been raining non stop the past few days, this weather is really driving me crazy with its 15 degree temperature differences!

Secondly, in preparation for tomorrow, I've been baking all day today, with no success unfortunately. For some reason the cake never eventuated... it never got to decorating stage. I simply cannot believe it, bloody packet cake mix and everything! It's never ever been a problem for me, ever! So I don't understand why now? First attempt, the cake was not high enough. Second attempt saw the cake erupting like a volcano in my oven so had to clean that out too, what an absolute mess! Third attempt it stuck to the cake tin. I was going to go again but thought someone must be trying to tell me something and gave up. And it was supposed to be a simple, yet elegant christening cake. I had most of the decorations ready to go once the cake was made and refridgerated overnight, very very simple design. But nup, there will be no white christening cake now. To say I'm extremely disappointed is an understatement :(

So now we go onto Plan B. I'm not going to say much at this stage I'm just hoping it works. It's not ideal but seeing that the ceremony is in aaproximately 9 hours time it's just going to have to do. I'll be sure to post some pictures anyway.

I must say though I'm very excited at the thought of seeing Alyssa in the christening gown. I just hope everything else goes according to plan despite the wet weather forecast... xo

Blogspotting

I have been tagged by the lovely Jaime from She Will Have Her Way in a little bit of fun, showing your little corner of your blog space.

Here is my blogging space. It's in my side of the study, the other side being hubby's section. We have 2 desks, adjoined by the printer. Yes, my side is messy messy messy! For some reason, no matter how clean and tidy I try and keep it, it always ends up looking like a bomb hit it! It's probably because I pay all the bills then leave them on my desk to file away. Sometimes my desk also becomes a dumping ground for various other random bits of paper. At the moment I'm borrowing my hubby's work laptop when he's not using it as my beloved lappie is getting her dvd-rom repaired...poor thing :(

I have a few photos of my babies. The large one is Alyssa when she was 3 weeks old and one of my all time favourites, taken by the wonderful and talented Lee from Krisp Photography. This photo and frame was actually a beautiful and generous gift from her. The other picture is of Eva at around 4 months and inset within the picture frame is Eva with her bestie at daycare.

Over to the far left I have a little drawer thingy that I was meant to use to file stuff for myself but instead it's just something to keep more bits and pieces in, some important, some not. And over to the far right are all my magazines, a box full and then some, spilling over everywhere because I can't stop buying them. Each month I feel compelled to buy a new magazine, even though I know it'll have the same stuff as it had the previous month. Then underneath my desk is our sick plasma which we decided not to repair. It's very annoying being right under my feet though!

So there you have it! Thank you for visiting my blogspot for a day!

So here are the official rules: Show Us Your Blog Spot!

Grateful

This morning I noticed one of my Facebook friend's update. It prompted me to follow up what it all meant which lead me to this site. It's a blog of a woman who's a photographer, who lost her daughter Ava in tragic circumstances. I remember reading about this a while ago, but my heart felt heavy reading it again, and the amount of grief the family is still going through, particularly her mummy. Today was the 2nd anniversary of her death. I thought about Ava all day today, and thought of her mum too, hoping she gets through today ok. Then when I picked Eva up from daycare this afternoon I think I must have cuddled her a gazillion times tonight, played with and combed her beautiful hair, and just held her. I really didn't want to let go of her.

I would move the world for her...

In the grand scheme of things, nothing else matters more than my 2 beautiful girls.

My thoughts go out to Sheye and her Super Princess Ava.

WASP!

I've just spent the last half hour cowering in terror after a black wasp entered the house. I was actually on the phone to the builder when it flew in, and the builder thought I saw a mouse or something from my screams!

Armed with the insect spray and fly swatter, I sprayed a couple times, called the husband (not that he could do anything from the office, but still, I needed some reassurance), told the neighbour when she saw me armed with my insectory(is that even a word? lol) weapons and kept spraying until it went away.

Unfortunately we get lots of wasps in this area. Lots of different scary looking wasps, and sometimes they fly into the house. I just hate them. I hate anything that stings and you'll hear me scream and run for miles if there's any stinging insect within a few metres of me!

It's gone now, phew! I've got all the doors closed and air con on so there's no more uninvited guests. Even my neighbour's husband came around to see if I was ok and if he could help ward off the little critter. He wasn't sure what he could have done but he showed up to make sure all was ok. How nice of him!

Anyways, I'm off to pick up my youngest from daycare. Poor thing has the runs. One of the bugs going around the centre at the moment :(

Pinch and a punch for the first day of the month!

Did you used to do this with your school friends? I used to. I think perhaps that's why I wasn't overly popular at school was because I used to go around pinching and punching everyone's shoulders in my class every 30 days or so.

I only just noticed it's the 1st of February today. The first day of the shortest month of the year. I'm wondering what will be achieved. We have lots going on:
  • Alyssa's christening
  • Hubby's birthday
Um, ok so not that much. Not sure why I started a bullet list actually but it's a good break up from the paragraphs I suppose lol! For some reason, in my mind, it feels like it's going to be a busy time of the year. I guess I'll still be job hunting. I'm coming into my third month now.

That's probably what happens when you're unemployed you lose track of dates, days, time in general slows...right...down. I've found that to be my case.

I didn't make any new years resolutions...I don't actually believe in them. But one of my intentions for the new year was to start doing more exercise and eating well.

Well January has passed and it's February now. It's not really the new year, but before it becomes March, April, May I should really do something about my (new year) intentions, huh?

So, I raise my chocolate to the first of the month! And the start of my health kick tomorrow ;-P
